❓ Frequently Asked Questions
Yes. PMMVY and JSY are completely separate central government schemes. Claiming one does not affect your eligibility for the other. Apply for PMMVY through pmmvy.wcd.gov.in and for JSY through your ASHA worker.
In Tamil Nadu, a BPL woman having her first child can receive ₹5,000 (PMMVY) + ₹1,400 (JSY rural) + ₹18,000 (Dr. Muthulakshmi Reddy scheme) = ₹24,400+. States like Telangana add ₹12,000+ in KCR Kit benefits on top.
Under PMMVY 2.0, the second child benefit of ₹6,000 applies only if the second child is a girl. Second male births and third+ births are not eligible for PMMVY. JSY however covers all births regardless of order.
Contact your ASHA (Accredited Social Health Activist) worker or register at your nearest government hospital or PHC. JSY is administered through the National Health Mission and your ASHA worker handles the registration process.
